The symbol of Kyushu Dental University is a stylized representation of a plane leaf, which originates from Hippocrates, the patron saint of medicine. Within the university grounds, in addition to a wall inscribed with Hippocrates' words, there is a megalith and a plane tree brought from the Greek island of Kos.

Hippocrates (460-377 BC), revered as the "father of medicine," is said to have taught medicine to many medical students and expounded on the principles of medical care under a plane tree. The design incorporates a stylized image of the leaf of this historically significant plane tree, along with an arrangement of the characters for "Kyushu Dental University."
