Facilities and equipment
Kyushu Dental University boasts a comprehensive range of learning and research facilities, including its library, electron microscope room, computer-related facilities, and animal experimentation facilities, providing an ideal learning environment for students studying dental medicine. Furthermore, with the relocation to the new main building and auditorium in 2007, the new facilities were made barrier-free, with ample space for wheelchair users to move around without difficulty and the installation of handrails, creating an environment that is virtually inaccessible to people with disabilities.
University Library
We have a wide selection of books and academic journals for preparing for and reviewing classes and for tutorial lectures, as well as a large collection of reference books for the national dental licensing examination. You can also use electronic journals to read and print articles on your computer. For research paper writing and self-study, you can instantly search online using the web version of the Medical Central Journal for domestic literature searches and PubMed for international literature searches, and you can also use the document copying services of off-campus libraries.
Electron Microscope Room
We are fully equipped with transmission electron microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, and related equipment essential to the field of dentistry, such as ultramicrotomes and vapor deposition systems. We also have a sample preparation room with a wide variety of equipment for sample preparation. The results of research conducted here are also utilized in educational settings.
Computer-related facilities
Our university has a total of 135 computers (5 students per computer), including 105 in the computer labs. Students can freely use these computers when they are not being used for lectures or other purposes. Additionally, there are approximately 90 wireless access points, allowing students to use their own laptops. Students can also access the university's online library from home.
DDS-100
We have introduced a digital dental simulator equipped with a real-time evaluation system using 3D virtual reality technology. This system was implemented to improve the skills of students by simulating various clinical scenarios involving tooth preparation.
Animal testing facility
The Animal Experimentation Facility was established in 1987 as a shared space for animal experiments related to dentistry and medicine, with the aim of promoting dental and medical research at the university and conducting education and research on experimental animals. Within the facility, various experimental animals, including genetically modified animals used in dental research, are bred and used for research day and night. The valuable data obtained from these experimental animals is fed back into dental clinical practice, contributing to the improvement of people's health.
