Entrance / exit

A library card is required to enter the library. There is a gate at the entrance; please enter by holding your card over the area marked "IC" in the passageway on the right. When leaving, please hold your card over the gate on the opposite side to exit.
If you do not yet have a card or are not a student, please feel free to speak to a staff member at the counter.

Borrowing, extending, returning, and reserving.

lending

A student ID or staff ID is required to borrow materials. Please use the self-service lending machines inside the library, or complete the borrowing procedure at the counter. An alarm will sound if you take materials outside the library without completing the borrowing procedure. Please come to the counter in the following cases:

  • When borrowing materials that do not have barcode labels attached
  • When borrowing a book that comes with an appendix
  • When borrowing an unbound magazine
  • Other error messages

*The following books and materials are not available for loan.

  • The latest issue of the magazine
  • Audiovisual materials
  • Reference books (books with a red label indicating they are not for loan)

*If any borrowed materials are lost, soiled, or damaged, you will be required to replace them with a new item. Please handle them responsibly and with care.

Extension

You can extend the loan period up to two times (two weeks) only for materials that are not reserved by other users. Please bring the materials to the counter. Extensions are not possible if you have overdue materials.

Reservation

If the material you wish to borrow is currently checked out, we will accept a reservation at the counter. We will contact you when the reserved material becomes available for borrowing.

Return

Please bring the materials you wish to return to the counter. Please note that you will not be able to borrow new materials if the return deadline has passed.

Document copying

Under Article 31 of the Copyright Law, libraries are permitted to "provide one copy of a portion of a published work to each user upon request, for the purpose of their research and study."
Please be mindful of copyright when copying materials.
There are two photocopiers installed in the library.

You can view the following documents.

  • Audiovisual materials (for in-library viewing only; not available for loan.)
  • News (Chinese)

The library subscribes to the following three newspapers. Newspapers for the past three days are available at the front entrance. Older newspapers are kept for approximately six months. If you would like to read older newspapers, please ask at the counter.

Notes on use

  • Please be considerate of other users while inside the building.
  • Eating is prohibited inside the building, but you may bring in and drink from plastic bottles and water bottles (excluding those with cups).
  • Smoking is prohibited inside the building.
  • The use of mobile phones is prohibited inside the building.
  • Library materials are important sources of information, so please handle them with care.
  • You are not permitted to watch DVDs or other media brought in from outside the building.
