Admission Policy

 Department of Dental Medicine 

  1. Those who have a strong interest and ethical standards in life science research, particularly in the area of dentistry, and have the desire to actively conduct their own research in the local community
  2. Those who can correctly interpret scientific information and have the desire to develop logical thinking skills that are grounded in scientific evidence
  3. Those who view matters from the perspective of general health and have the desire to conduct research that is useful in any changes in the social structure
  4. Those who have the desire to work with other interdisciplinary fields of study and to conduct research that contributes to local community development
  5. Those who have the desire to conduct research that collaborates with various professions and contribute to the local community
  6. Those who have the desire to promote research from an international perspective

 Department of Oral Health Sciences 

  1. Those who have a strong interest in oral health science research, and have the desire to actively conduct their own research in the local community with high ethical standards
  2. Those who aspire to become dental hygienists, educators, or researchers who possess a high level of specialized knowledge and skills
  3. Those who understand the significance of research that supports scientific evidence and have the desire to develop logical thinking skills
  4. Those who have the desire to contribute to general health while enriching the oral health of people of all ages

Basic policy for selecting applicants

 Department of Dental Medicine 

Entrance examinations are held twice a year in accordance with the basic policy for selecting applicants to the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry.
Applicants are selected based on the scores in their written examinations in their research field (subjects related to research and clinical knowledge of the applicant's desired field of interest), the written examination in English, and an interview examination. Passing scores for each examination are 60 points or more.

 Department of Oral Health Sciences 

Entrance examinations are held comprehensively in accordance with the basic policy for selecting applicants to the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry.
Applicants are selected based on their scores on the written examination in English and an interview examination. Passing scores for each examination are 60 points or more.

Curriculum Policy(Quality of Education KDU Strives to Offer)

Curriculum Policy

 Department of Dental Medicine 

  1. We develop and offer a curriculum that enables students to acquire knowledge on medical and research ethics, life sciences, and related fields
  2. We develop and offer a curriculum that fosters students’ abilities to develop logical thinking skills that are grounded in scientific evidence
  3. We develop and offer a curriculum that fosters students’ abilities to perform independent research activities from the perspective of both oral and general health
  4. We develop and offer lectures and practicums in collaboration with medico-dental engineering that utilizes regional characteristics in order to contribute to advanced clinical dentistry and research
  5. We develop and offer lectures and practicums at partner universities and medical institutions in order to foster students’ abilities to promote research that collaborates with various professions
  6. We develop a curriculum that encourages students to view issues from an international perspective and provide opportunities for them to participate in international academic conferences

 Department of Oral Health Sciences 

  1. We develop and offer lectures and practicums that foster medical and research ethics, enable students to acquire comprehensive knowledge on health sciences and related fields, and allow them to practice regional comprehensive care
  2. We develop and offer lectures and practicums related to advanced oral health sciences, life sciences, nutrition, and clinical research
  3. We develop and offer lectures and practicums related to health administration and dental health and welfare activities that are grounded in scientific evidence
  4. We develop and offer lectures and practicums that lead to research connected to the dental and general health of people of all ages in cooperation with other disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, engineering, and nursing science
  5. We offer lectures and practicums that lead to research in a wide range of specialties, through education that collaborates with various professions
  6. We develop and offer lectures and practicums that develop students’ basic skills, such as giving research presentations in English, in order to encourage them to view issues from an international perspective

Curriculum Implementation Policy

 Department of Dental Medicine 

The number of credits specified by the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry degree regulations is to be completed in 4 years. Students actively select lectures and practical subjects necessary for research from among major, minor, and elective subjects, and acquire knowledge and skills necessary for research. Research reports are submitted, dissertations are written, and research results are reported in the fourth year.
Research results are evaluated by selected members of the admissions committee based on the contents of question-and-answer sessions during research presentations and evaluation standards.

 Department of Oral Health Sciences 

The number of credits specified by the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry degree regulations is to be completed in 2 years. Students actively select lectures and practical subjects necessary for research from among basic, specialized elective I, specialized elective II, and inter-university collaborative subjects, and acquire knowledge and skills necessary for research. Presentations of research results and research reports are evaluated in the second year.

Diploma Policy

 Department of Dental Medicine 

  1. Graduates who have mastered a broad range of knowledge in the life sciences and are equipped with the comprehensive abilities needed to carry out their own self-directed research
  2. Graduates, who as specialized medical professionals, have logical thinking skills that are grounded in scientific evidence and abilities needed to contribute to the development of the most advanced treatments
  3. Graduates with abilities allowing them to devote themselves throughout their professional lives to advanced and creative research in dentistry and oral health care from the perspective of general health
  4. Graduates who have gained the ability to contribute to the development of the local community by cooperating with other interdisciplinary fields of study and by developing research in collaboration with the local community
  5. Graduates with abilities to contribute to society through dental health and medical care activities in collaboration with various professions
  6. Graduates with abilities to actively communicate and exchange information with researchers abroad, and with abilities to disseminate their research results to the international community

Criteria for Awarding Degrees

 Department of Dental Medicine 

Doctorate degrees (in dentistry) are awarded to students who meet requirements specified by the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry degree regulations and the Criteria for Awarding Degrees (appended form).

 Department of Oral Health Sciences 

Master’s degrees (in oral health sciences) are awarded to students who meet requirements specified by the Kyushu Dental University Graduate School of Dentistry degree regulations and the Criteria for Awarding Degrees (appended form).
